The ONLY way to long-lasting peace in Russo-Ukrainian war
    General Kellog:
You have to approach that in a very pragmatic way, you know? I go back to Teddy Roosevelt and the Treaty of Portsmouth [that ended the Russo-Japanese War in 1905,]” he said. “The czar of Russia and the Japanese were ready to walk out the door [during negotiations] and Roosevelt basically got them together and said, ‘Both of you got to give a little’ and they did.
“And what happens is you get Teddy Roosevelt the Nobel Peace Prize and the war stops. So I think when you look at that, and even more recent examples, that’s just the kind of the way it is
    .”

With all his noble intentions and seemingly appropriate references to the history of the Russo-Japanese war, Gen. Kellog misses the chief elephant in the room – the fact that prior to concluding the peace treaty the Russian forces have suffered series of devastating defeats – from battles of Yalu River and Yellow sea to Port Arthur, Mukden and Tsushima.

The Russian Empire was forced to the 1905 Portsmouth treaty in the Russo-Japanese war ONLY AFTER it was militarily defeated by Japan.

Soviet Russia was forced to the 1921 Riga treaty in the Soviet-Polish war ONLY AFTER it was militarily defeated by the newly born Polish Republic in the battles of Lviv and Warsaw.

The Soviet Union was forced to the 1944 Moscow armistice in the Continuation war ONLY AFTER it was militarily defeated by Finland in the battles of Tali-Ihantala and Ilomantsi.

The Russo-Ukrainian war might have ended with the relatively long-term peace ONLY AFTER Russia is militarily defeated in this war.

Therefore, the whole thrust of the Trump/Kellog efforts MUST BE redirected – from futile and fruitless attempts to achieve unachievable through economic sanctions/diplomatic pressure/any non-military means to the preparation and execution of the MILITARY DEFEAT of the Russian forces.

This is the ONLY way to relatively long-lasting peace.
    For Ukraine, Russia and Europe.
