LinkedIn is dead? Recent changes at LinkedIn resulted in the following:
- I am getting no notifications about anything
- I miss most updates of people in my network
The notifications used to be a big part of what drew me to use LinkedIn more actively in 2016. I could see what other people are replying to my comments, and there were some discussions that started that way. With the new UI, there seems to be very little of that left. Whatever you write as a comment will go into a black hole, never to be discovered again.
The posts feed on LinkedIn used to be driven by the people in my network: if I missed something, I could always roll back the feed page and see earlier posts. With the new LinkedIn UI, I only see about eight newest posts, - most of them irrelevant to me, - and all others are lost because there is no more rollback function.
My own posts get very few new views now, because they are not discoverable.
I expect that people will stop going to LinkedIn as much as they used to. I certainly noticed that the lack of notifications and updates makes me turn away from LinkedIn after a few seconds, because I cannot find any interesting articles to read.
Good-bye, LinkedIn.
Update: They restored the scroll function - at least, it works most of the time now. However, notifications are still not coming.
