The end result of the modern-style compulsory education is that people are deprived of their chance to, actually, have an education. They are being forced to study, or to pretend to be studying, all kinds of things they do not care about -- and end up with full loads of misconceptions about all these, and not knowing basic things they might be actually interested in knowing.
Mathematicians are being forced to study literature, music, history, sociology, evolution and whatnot, so in the end they are unaware of the connection between the bosons/fermions and the symmetric/skew-symmetric tensors. Algebraists are being forced to study lots of analysis and applied math., so they end up knowing neither analysis nor algebra, etc. |
