современного образования объяснены прекрасно...И я не могу сейчас заставить себя об этом думать.
At this point some one will shriek: "But surely, even for marriage, isn't it right that a girl should have a college education?" To which I hasten to answer: most assuredly. I freely admit that a girl who knows algebra, or once knew it, is a far more charming companion and a nobler wife and mother than a girl who doesn't know x from y. ...
For example, suppose that during her four years every girl lucky enough to get a higher education spent at least six months of it in the training and discipline of a hospital as a nurse. There is more education and character making in that than in a whole bucketful of algebra.
Недавно в Оксфорде закрылся единственный чисто женский колледж---точнее, его решили сделать смешанным. Кстати, студентки старших курсов были против...

Но, однако, о девушках: моя знакомая аспипантка рассказала, что с ней тьюторы проводили по 10 минут (а не час, как полагается---и чего она требовала)---она всё знала. Гвавная тьютор(ша) довольно бестмысленно чего-то повторяля. По настоящему же тьюториалы с ней проводил лишь один тьютор---ожидание-опоздание (20мин), беседуя так (20мин), общий разговор о предмете, истории, мотивировке задач (20мин). и наконец о самих задачах (20мин). Но, конечно, этот тютор не работал в Оксфордском Университете---основное место работы было другим (конечно!):

If I were founding a university--and I say it with all the seriousness of which I am capable--I would found first a smoking room; then when I had a little more money in hand I would found a dormitory; then after that, or more probably with it, a decent reading room and a library. After that, if I still had money over that I couldn't use, I would hire a professor and get some text books. |

Между прочим, не так давно один студент МГУ убил-- и затем расчленил тело--другого
студента МГУ..По новостям это вроде не проходило, а убийцу милиция вроде нашли. Интересно,
насколько часты такие случаи: сколько убийств (не самоубийств!) совершают студенты ЛГУ в год. |
