19th-century zoologist Ernst Haeckle’s illustrations of jellyfish. horn’s massive rubber chandelier refers to the history of ornamentation based on nature and the mythological gorgon.

Hello Marinni, Thank you for posting my work to your blog. Looking at your other entries, you have posted many fabulous images of decorative arts and furniture - a great source of inspiration to me! Hello Tim, very pleased to meet you, - Internet is a great thing! Your works are great- best, in my opinion. I am costume designer, worked in cinema for many years, and I/m very interested in furniture and other antiques. In Russia in St. Petersburg may be very intresting for you, there are many palaces and museums- much richer than Versailles.

P.S. When I was installing the sugar encrusted carriage and chandelier at the de Young Museum, a woman visiting the museum passed by. She asked if the chandelier was made of amber? I was so thrilled, as I had been inspired by Catherine the Great's Amber Room, and other such man made phenomena. She said she'd grown up in Siberia, and often as a child visited palaces with amber chandeliers. That made me really happy.
