Сосуд для питья с механизмом и богиней Дианой.
Олень- это сам сосуд, голова оленя- крышка. Благодаря часовому механиму вся скульптурная группа, как я поняла из перевода, могла двигаться по столу в четырех направлениях.

Tureens are an invention of the 1690s and were probably introduced at the court of Louis XIV. They were designed for use with a ladle, and remained on the table throughout the dinner. Tureens were passed around the table and handled by diners who undoubtedly admired the elaborate decoration and matching ladles.

The Tiffany book describing the Adams Vase included a list of the craftsmen who had worked on it: three draftsmen, fifteen modelers, eighteen goldsmiths, twenty-one chasers, twelve finishers, four molders, three turners, two enamelers, three stonecutters, and two lapidaries. Paulding Farnham, director of the jewelry division at Tiffany & Company, was responsible for the design of this exquisite object. It was exhibited in 1900 at the Exposition Universelle in Paris and presented to the Metropolitan Museum in 1904 by Edward Dean Adams.
