History of the Soviet Jews (movement for the right to emigrate to Israel) Благодаря Марии Фокиной публикуем перевод еще одного нашего поста - призыва к волонтерам, интересующимся историей советского еврейства (сам пост здесь:

There are several topics about which very much has been written in “The Chronicle of Current Events”. Consequently, it seems that these topics require their own, “personal” volunteers. Concluding that such volunteers need a more personalized approach, we begin to publish targeted advertisements.
We invite young researchers, university and even high-school students interested in the history of the Soviet Jews in the second half of the 20th century.
The struggle of the Soviet Jews for the right to emigrate to Israel and for the opportunity to develop their culture in the USSR became one of the key events of the 20th century not only of the Soviet but of world history. In “The Chronicle of Current Events” hundreds of entries are dedicated to the “refuseniks“ (those who applied for emigration and met refusal from the authorities), actions organized by the participants of the refusenik movement, activities for reviving of the Jewish culture and, of course, the persecution of those involved by the authorities.
These materials first appeared in the earliest issues of “The Chronicle”. Subsequently, the inflow of information has become increasingly more intense. Annotations of petitions and complaints, periodicals and publications of the Jewish Samizdat, and exposés of social and political anti-Semitism all appeared in the bulletin. Printed on the pages of “The Chronicle” are the names of refuseniks and of activists of the Jewish movement. Among them are wide-world known people, as well as those known only for having the courage to place their signature on a petition demanding the relaxation of restrictions on emigration to Israel.
Time does not stand still and with every year it will become increasingly more difficult to find out details, correct mistakes and, one can say, retain the ability to comment, since quite a lot remains only in people’s memories.
So if you are ready to help us we will gladly accept your help.
