Sansamp GT2 vs Sansamp GT2
Strange subject. Still any five years ago I could not even dream in a nightmare that I will be confused on this theme. But that who searches - finds, and I after these some years have found and even buy that The text can interest only electroguitarists, especially those who already using legendary GT2 or is going to get it. So, we will start.

Preamble
Very long time ago, about 7 years ago I have got at a little  shabby sansamp for 170 dollars. New sansamps in shops about 200 dollars, but the seller did not move at all under the price. I nevertheless have bought the device as I would like the perfect sound. My old Ibanez RG stratocaster-type  Korean-made, certainly, has been already equipped DiMarzio pickup at neck and Seymour Duncan on bridge. It seemed to me that enough one good pedal, and all at me will be cool. And as I played that time on taverns (and sometimes through the awful devices, being plugin directly in a line) it was necessary speaker simulator, than, actually, and is sansamp.

Unfortunately, my Ibanez was bad. All that I would not play, immediately turned to illegible porridge - while unpretentious Fender the Mexican (start) played absolutely distinguishable and expressively even on Hi-Gain. The Band too began to glitch... I was disappointed in all and all have sold. All - combos, the wires, all pedals, guitar... Began to play classics.

But the soul of the poet has breaked out. After a few years I have again got a guitar, this time Mexican Stratocaster, and the beginnings to collect a processing sound-chain. Took from the former pupil its sansamp (the pupil was closed up by the businessman, and not musicman), and began to play. But the strange sensation did not leave me trough work with  GT2. The sensation is similar to how the wife who has changed to you (God forbid, all of yours), comes home, and like all as always, everything is all right... But something not so.
Approximately same sensations described to me and my pupil who has had time to play on my old sansamp and the new which has bought. As he said left that old sansamp sounded 10 times better.

Even at a passing on new sansamp it was clear to me that the design has changed. Instead of massive industrial buttons foot-switch there was only its imitation. Has appeared quick panel for a battery, and the plate from the two-floored has turned to one continuous. But I could not study quite precisely a difference as my old sansamp has been sold, and all my attempts to redeem it suffered failure back.

The American Auction
I hardly became more adult and have got to myself a debet card that has allowed me to get some guitar belongings at the well-known auction e-bay. Actually it is a real paradise for the guitarist. I have on the sly got through e-bay all the pedalboard. But the first that I have tried to find - GT2. And the matter is that I very well remembered that on my old sansamp 5-numbers serial number, and on new sansamp -  6. Therefore I searched for 5-unit serial number on used copies. My curiosity had no borders - clearly, sansamp has undergone constructive changes, but whether there was it and with a sound?

Once I have failed. My card was yet ready, and the seller was unable wait. But later 5 months I have again noticed a prize - the American sold sansamp 1996, judging by photos, in a fine condition, not modified by fanatics-fans. And I have won this prize!

Now at me on a table two brothers-sansamp - old, with 5-unit sn, and new, with 6-unit sn. And specially for you I have prepared the most detailed report on a difference between them. And this difference is blasphemously huge!

Constructive differences
So, here heroes of our experiment. Get acquainted:

As in pictures - find ten differences)) Actually cases are identical behind a small exception.

And only on this picture it is possible to see the first and important difference - type of a DC-socket for a power unit. It absolutely another, and not is for nothing - on new sansamp (that that at the left) this socket for a long time already has become unfit for use, simply having collapsed. I have somehow stuck together it and have blocked so that at least from a battery worked.

The back side also impresses - on new sansamp there was a hatch for a battery (that, it is doubtless, convenient), and also are pasted CE more to the right sn. Also, at old sansamp logo Tech21 is in another way written:

I give this photo that you were convinced that there is no deceit. I have opened sansamp with 6-dig sn (new), on the right - old updating.

So, we pass to water procedures. It is enough to open covers both sansamp to gasp. It appears, these are two absolutely different pedals!!

Here bent "the second floor" in old updating sansamp:

We compare buttons. So the button at NEW sansamp is arranged - certain thingy presses on spring, and spring presses on the microswitch on a plate. Possibly, the idea consists that the destiny of the guitarist should depend on weariness degree spring. By the way, we changed the switch - it has been pressed through.

NEW sansump, out from the case. Sockets of Jacks hang on conductings is my engineering thought as the design new sansamp does not allow to take out a plate without unmount jacks. Potentiometers  frequently become soiled and that them normally to clean, it was necessary constantly breakin plate. Therefore I have deduced all on separate conductings. In the original at new sansamp jacks are tightly soldered to a plate.

The microswitch close up. Also I have led round microcircuits (in OLD sansamp as will see further, absolutely others components)

Mysterious microassemblage under a drive regulator. Almost same is and on old sansamp.

The button of NEW sansamp looks simply badly.

And it is the normal button old sansamp. More precisely, the American man wrote that it changed the button as the original has broken, but there was approximately a same button (I remember it perfectly) earlier. Besides the payment is truncated just because of the button (and not only):

And though on OLD sansamp sockets too are soldered stupidly in a plate, the truncated plate in a combination to the demountable button and - that is very important - a demountable socket of a power unit allows to lift a payment simply! Ledges jacks act in a role of axes. In NEW sansamp with it interferes two factors: the plate  is extended, and a dc socket is another and fixed!

Here present, old Sansamp GT2 of the sample of 1996!

One amp on an angular plate:

Microassemblage in more rough case, than in new sansamp. Marks are not present, most likely this know-how tech21.

Wonderful big condensators, two small microcircuits, accurate assemblage and the thought over design!

Comparison of a sound both of pedals

I have put near to guitar combo the smart phone Nokia E51 and have hastily made short video which will allow to estimate if not "fat" sansamp, then their identity or a difference. Lives under the reference:

THE RESUME

Subjectively new sansamp sounds in a mode pure fender start is better, and old but it is not scattered in a drive and sounds more distinctly. Besides, its sound seems to me more convincingly. The design is thought obviously over better, it is stronger, more reliable (footsw is correct, for a power unit hardy), it it is easier to serve a socket (to clean potentiometers  to solder that has fallen off). However to buy old sansamp now it is possible only used. I think that few years through, sansamp, the designs let out before "modernisation", will cost at auctions a fantastic sum, how now sell authentic Japanese TS808, let out till 1986...

I will be glad, if my sketch is useful. In advance I thank for comments and responses!
