Drunk Ukrainian flight technicians caught at Tallinn Airport

TALLINN, May 17, BNS - Security staff on Tuesday
evening detained two visibly drunk members of an Ukrainian
air crew at Tallinn Airport.
A security guard spotted the two crew members on the
platform as they were staggering toward the passenger
terminal at 8:08 p.m., spokespeople for the Falck security
company said.
A patrol sent to check the individuals established that
the men, born respectively in 1973 and 1965, were Ukrainian
nationals and members of the crew of an Ukrainian An-12
aircraft standing at the airport.
The men were handed over to police and representatives
of the Estonian Civil Aviation Authority after they had
refused an alcohol test by the airport's paramedics, Falck
said.
Rein Porro, deputy director general of the Estonian
Civil Aviation Authority, said he had dispatched two
inspectors to the airport immediately after the report came
in. When the inspectors arrived the men had already been
taken to a police station.
"On the basis of preliminary information we can say
that they were not pilots of the aircraft but flight
technicians who are members of the air crew," Porro told
BNS.
