Canoe trip - international water Back from 4-day canoe trip. The St. Croix River is the international boundary between eastern Maine and southwestern New Brunswick, Canada. Border Patrol came to the campground - fortunately, there was only one car-accessible campground on the way. Matt had his passport readily available but what's more important he spoke perfect American English with Connecticut accent. He was doing his best to maintain animated conversation with the guys from Border Patrol. He knew we forgot our documents. We kept quiet. The guys stared at Tanya who didn’t seem to belong to any culture – either Russian, American or Israeli, wearing a sarong and a flannel long-sleeve man’s shirt from her Mom’s college years in Moscow. Tanya added a remark to conversation and passed the test. - Looking for terrorists? – asked Matt. - Yes, Iraqi terrorists, Russian terrorists, all sorts of terrorists… Finally they left. - Почему приходили полицейские? Почему? Почему? – вступил Иосиф, к счастью, после того, как машина уже начала удаяться. |
