Sinai explosions
As many as seven explosions, at least four of them car bombs, rocked the Egyptian tourist resort of Sharm e-Sheikh in the Sinai Peninsula early Saturday, targeting several hotels and severely damaging at least one hotel, witnesses said. At least 43 people were killed and 136 wounded.

In October 2004, a series of explosions hit several hotels in the Sinai resorts of Taba and Ras Shitan, about 180 kilometers (100 miles) northwest along the Gulf of Aqaba coast, killing 34 people. Egyptian authorities said that attack was linked to Israeli-Palestinian violence and launched a large wave of arrests in Sinai.

Those places used to be relatively popular among Israelis.

This time there were no Israelis there. But plenty of Egyptians. As usual, the terrorists don't care much about other Muslims.

I think Muslim Brotherhood was targeting touristy places in the 1980s and later too. I remember something about bombs in Luxor. In any case, this is not particularly new. But Egypt is not prepared well to cope. Maybe they too will have to learn.
