WRITING a kiss-and-tell novel about the officials and financiers at the heart of China’s fledgeling financial markets is a venture hardly likely to win approval from state censors.
Instead, Xiao Hongchi and Hu Yebi experimented with a fictionalised autobiography. The result is Sex and Stocks, an exposé of the capers and corruption that are part of the investment banking world in China. The authors, both 42, know of what they write. Mr Xiao, who lives in Beijing, is a businessman-turned-author, and Mr Hu remains an investment banker with his own boutique house in Hong Kong.
