Pentagon’s Winner-Take-All Move on Cloud Contract Expected to Favor Amazon
The US Defense Department issued a final RFP for a 10-year, $10 billion cloud services contract, Bloomberg reported
• Companies competing for the contract, including Microsoft, IBM, and Oracle, say the contest will favor Amazon Web Services
• Their main objection is that Pentagon plans to award a single contract to a single provider, rather than splitting it among several vendors
• The DoD told Congress that multiple awards would make for a slow process under current acquisition law
