US power in EU George Monbiot: *So much of [UK] intelligence and military systems are shared [with] or reliant on the US — if it becomes the enemy, it is already inside the gates.* The idea of NATO, like that of "five-eyes" intelligence sharing, was predicated on the idea of an alliance that would never end, as well as on the idea of shared principles of democracy and human rights that would certainly continue (albeit occasionally deniably betrayed by the various governments). Nowadays, for the US in a Tr-ance, "cooperation with" other countries is a euphemism for making them submit and obey, or recruiting them into the gang. It is trying to recruit Putin, Europe's main existing enemy. Will the wrecker share the UK's intelligence with Putin? I don't think any principles or loyalties would hold him back. |
