Arrested by deportation thugs while going from US to Canada
Rebecca Burke describes being
arrested
by the deportation thugs
as she was trying to go from the US to Canada, then held for weeks
in a harsh prison where the lights were always on and there wasn't
enough to eat.
I suspect the harshness was because the prison had been farmed off to
a company. There is no excuse for being so harsh to those facing
possible deportation.
I have a theory about why they put her in prison: because she tried to
cross into Canada overland, where there was no airport. According to
their rules, they can't let anyone do that. But if we look at the
issue actually at stake, they had no real reason to be so strict and
harsh. If they let her out so she could get a flight and leave, her
presence in the US for a few more days would have done the US no
significant harm. The underlying reason was that they are too eager
to be cruel.
