Freedom of speech in UK limited Freedom of speech in the UK is rather limited, in ways that an American (or someone getting accustomed to US standards) can find shocking. I've noticed the same thing, and not only about the UK. In many other European countries, the idea of freedom of speech is narrow. You can state a range of political opinions, but insulting a person can be a crime. President Sarkozi (recently convicted of corruption) had several people prosecuted for insulting him. </li> |
