Blessed Minds II First some appropriate music. You can buy yourself pleasures, excitement and joy. You can travel to special places, drive cool vehicles and ride huge animals . You can eat the best food and drink the best beverage. You can do all sorts of things in real life, but… Some of the best memories of my life are of events that actually took place only in my mind. They never found place in real life. My mind created them, aided most of the time by MERP (“Middle-earth Role Playing”) or some other pen & paper role-playing game. I remember the events of Middle-earth vividly. I was there; in the Shire, in the Path of the Dead, in Helm’s Deep, in Bree, in Rivendell, in the Mines of Moria, in Goblin’s Gate, in Gundabad, in Isengard, in Mirkwood, in Dale, in the Lonely Mountain, in Fangorn Forest, in the Grey Mountains, in Minas Tirith, and even in Haradwaith – and in so many other places too. I was there no less than I was here, in our own bland world, in Dystopia. I remember it well. My mind was free to explore Middle-earth, as it is free to explore any other world or idea out there, worthy of exploration. My mind was free to create a new world too, free for others to explore, if they want to. With time perhaps you will remember fondly the events that took place in Spearcove, in Millheadland, in Andâlanga, in Woodchop Forest, in Hawser Bay, in Thing-Grove, in Agadîr, in Densewood, in Grainmeadow, in Heap-of-Stones, in Houndstead Forest, in Wardenholm, in Lairgrave, in Kingscove Bay or somewhere else in Þulê. The power of the mind is incredible! We must never underestimate it! Never neglect it! Never think that what your mind creates for you is of any less value than anything you experience in ‘real’ life! Never think badly of your own imagination! Cultivate it, embrace it and allow it to remain free! When all else fails, when our world sinks into darkness and despair, when life becomes unbearable, what your mind creates for you can enable you to endure and emerge unscathed. Only your own mind has that power. Make sure you don’t ever neglect it and let it fall into decay. HailaR WôðanaR! |
