Amongst all the conspiracy theories and dim future perspectives we have heard about, there is one that most surely will spell the doom of the modern world. It will spell the doom of most of mankind too, but as we know: mankind doesn’t need 7 billion human beings in order to survive. In fact, it is more likely to survive with even only a few thousand individual human beings.

Today absolutely everything that holds up civilisation is 100% dependent on electricity. So when the electricity goes so does civilisation.

Today almost everybody are 100% dependent on civilisation to survive. So when civilisation goes, so does most of humanity.

About every 150^th year a great solar storm hits the Earth, and destroys everything electronic and the entire electricity network as well. In the past this was not a problem: there was no electricity in the first place, no satellites, and more importantly: there were no nuclear power-plants… Yes, you see: the nuclear power-plants need electricity in order to be shut down safely, and it takes months to do. If the electricity goes (and their backup power generators will of course suffer the same fate as the rest of the electricity system), then they will melt down – and every nuclear power-plant on this planet will turn into a Tschernobyl. If a great solar storm hits the Earth then all cars will die too, and all other means of transportation as well, so nobody will be able to manually extinguish the fires at the power-plants, and at least some life on our planet, that is mankind, will be severely… challenged, so to speak, by this.

The few human beings still alive about 1 year after the next great solar storm face a life very different from what they are used to, and if you want to survive I suggest you prepare for that.

 

10 Survival tips:

1. Don’t live in an urban environment. If you do you are almost sure to perish, no matter what you do; no matter what precautions you take.
2. Buy Iodine pills en masse, and take them very quickly when SHTF. You need to take them before the radiation hits you.
3. Live in the countryside, as far away from the nearest nuclear power-plant as possible.
4. Learn useful skills. “Know how” books are more valuable to you than a hundred times their own weight in gold. Learn to grow your own food, to hunt, to trap, to treat injuries, to treat the sick and to use manuals tools.
5. Buy tons of manual tools.
6. Stay in great shape. If you are male run a lot (in the countryside…).
7. Stockpile rice. You can survive on only rice for several years! At least 2-300 kg rice per person will keep you alive long enough for you to have the time to start growing your own food.
8. Keep hens (the older the race, the better), and get a guard dog to keep the fox away. Their eggs will be a good addition to the rice, and some very few very old races are still able to hatch their own eggs.
9. Stay home when SHTF, Don’t start walking around to look for others unless you absolutely have to.
10. You will be bored, because you are used to so much entertainment, so buy tons of pencils, erasers, and MYFAROG, the tabletop RPG. Print out tons of character sheets in good time before SHTF. It will keep you entertained for decades. ;-)
