the sound of all night rain I see a rainbow in my dreams
all night rain - who adds the rainbow to my dreams?
дождь ночь напролет - откуда взялась радуга в моем сне? |

scratchpad: information evolution |

while working on a trend case study, I found an interesting historical pattern of "number packaging" for scalable calculations. It shows up when numbers become "mass processed", e.g. for military, trade, scientific and other purposes. (need to elaborate here with examples). Emergence of a dominant calculation technique seems to cause a change in number representation. This way the process becomes a co-evolution of content [carrier(?)] packaging and content processing ( elaborate, examples). - implications for quantum computing.
A wider and maybe more general pattern would be information packaging (elaborate, examples), which is tied to a certain scale of an information processing system. - passive vs. active content - DRM - SGML & XML
Another aspect is conceptualizing writing as a shared memory. There are some very interesting analogies between gene and meme roles in their respective systems. DNA (packaged genetic info) is the basis for biological memory. Stored information (packaged thoughts) is the basis for cultural memory. (elaborate, examples).
looks like the subject, including a couple of case studies and examples, deserves a good chapter. |
