I'm thinking about using Orson Card's sci-fi MICE quotient approach in every talk now.
M (milieu) - context, environment. the audience has to understand the background.
I (idea) - what are we talking about: problem - solution.
C (character) - there has to be a character! this is very difficult, but you have to show, not tell (as they say it school)
E (event) - things should be happening in your "show". There has to be tension, contradictions, and barriers to overcome. Just make sure they are not too tall for the audience. |
