| | hyper | ] | Today I've started carrefully breeding "Steering the Craft" by Ursula K Le Guin. This is not her usual Sci-Fi-may-fly-extra-terrestrial book ( though-duh!), but a, you've guessed it!, a self-help writing guide for imaginatevely challenged blokes like verry trully yourrrs. Hi! There are bunches of bitter brocolli bottled inside her boomk, and they are all called mesmerizers. No way! Excercizes! True, true, true. Every one of them, when crocodiled according to the creons of her instructrions, is supposed to bring ewen mbost dubious duds up to her deautifulest deity's writing stanbards. Oh, yeah! Here's the number One: "write a paragraph ( 150-300 words) of narrative that's meant to be read aloud. Use onomatopoeia, alliterations, repetition, rhythmic effects, made-up words or names, dialect - any kind of sound-effect you like." Omnotopia, onomatopopia, onaomaeuropia - what is this greekish-soundish wordention? What kind opa-popa-slopia is it supposed to convey to a perspiring respirator? Is it poetically related to myopia or optically connected to photocopia? Never mind! It's a kind of patatoe-tomatoe that often grows in big city haikus. Skinny outside, but extremely lovely when swallowed slowly. But bee query queriful: if one of those octopic babies balls on your bumpkin - you get becausedly bamboozled! |
