I've always struggled to understand why people are so illogical in their judgements when it comes to political issues.
For example, when you ask someone a general question, something like, "What do you think is better - work on prevention or deal with consequences?", most often you get the typical "prevention" answer - "of course, prevention. it's cheaper and more effective."
But when you ask the same person a politicaly charged question about abortion or gun violence, you get a completely different story depending on the person's ideology or party affiliation.
Liberals tend to be on the prevention side when it comes to gun violence, but do not mind to err on the consequences side while discussing abortion. Conservatives often do the opposite. From their perspective abortion must be prevented by contraception and abstinence, while gun control should be avoided like a plague.
Fascinating irrationality, isn't it?

TBC - time to walk the dog.
