Until this problem is fixed, there is an excellent online feedreader you can use to read all current posts of anyone on most websites.

It's easy to add any journal you like to your feed list by just putting the Lj url of the journal into it. It finds the rss feed and sets you up. I use it for lots and lots of sources I want to read. It's actually easier and more organised than what the Friends page is.
