Obviously, this is far beyond nannying political correctness. This is a regime of political terror. This is to threaten everyone doing work for a living, - to take a certain political side by accepting the whole ideology of political transgenderism / intersectionality or lose it. No matter how false this ideology is, one just has to force it upon his or her own worldview. Which is very similar to how communist ideology was treated in the USSR. One just has to agree with it and disagree with observable reality, to become a sort of voluntary schizophreniac, or at least not to voice any disagreement with the current Party line. Otherwise, go through the hell of losing your job, and then getting into the same hell that many dissidents went through - mental institution, imprisonment, exile.
Except there is no more Land of Freedom to exile to.
Now, a year later, people are censored and lose income for questioning COVID-19 handling by authorities.
Obviously, Soviet-style political terror is now present with full force in Academia, and not just in "social sciences" and liberal arts departments, but in REAL SCIENCE.
The threat of losing real science is direct and immediate. There could be no compromise. Either we have biology, or we have a government administration dictatorship, with soothsayers pretending to be experts and funded by global corporate conglomerates. This is not a science, but mind manipulation and market manipulation in one entity.
