| 11:36 am [Link] |     The insistent images for me now are those of syzygy: that is where the animation is. I am seized again by the wealth of playfulness, intensity, majesty and mystery... The empowerment of shaman and shamaness, we are told, their ability to travel through the upper and lower worlds, came through their marriage to their spirit wife or husband (Eliade, 1970). Contemporary men and women, it seems, still know something of that inner energy: 'I dreamed I was myself, and also a man with a penis, making love to a woman who was also myself.' 'I dreamed I was myself making love to a woman – and then I realized I also had female genitalia.' In the imagery and energy of such dreams – the first a woman's, the second a man's, both of them heterosexual – people can experience extraordinary transformative power.
