Не, несерьёзно. Так было когда-то безальтернативно, теперь более распространено другое.

И чтобы узнать этот момент, который не адресован у Кнута (или это момент вкуса, или забыл), адресован у более других типографов.

Есть они или нет, как у них с авторитетностью — мнение, во многом зависящее от того, что вы кроме Кнута читали.

А у Кнута, повторяю, не адресовано неиспользование spaced en-dash в качестве тире, которое вы ему приписываете.
