14 TIMES SHEVA ![]() Andriy Shevchenko made it thirteen and then fourteen at the Olimpico stadium, the venue where he opened his Italian scoring in September 1999 thanks to an hat-trick against Lazio. This time the Ukrainian star netted a double in the big clash against Roma to add to his already-impressive tally this season and give Milan an important success. The best success, however, remains that which the Rossoneri achieved five years ago, as they shook hands with Dinamo Kyiv president Grigory Surkis to sign the prolific striker. Sheva's first goal against Roma came half-way through the first half. A similar goal to the one he made at Amsterdam and which enabled his side to qualify to the Champions league round of sixteen. A delicate lob at the far post after chesting down a superb cross-field pass from Clarence Seedorf. Beautiful and important net. Or better crucial. Like most of the goals Andriy has scored this season. And just like the second of the evening at the Olimpico: a diagonal powerful strike after being perfectly set up by Manuel Rui Costa. Sheva started his series of fourteen on September 1, scoring a brace away to Ancona. Then a San Siro header against Bologna and the two wonderful goals against Lecce in front of his home fans (he actually likes most the second one). The goal in the Milan derby made way to three more doubles: in Geona against Samp, in Verona against Chievo (goals No. 100 and 101 for the Rossoneri) and at home against Modena. Now the Black Sea Phenomenonhas made it nine out of fourteen in away matches this season to reclaim the leadership in the scorers' chart and confirm his class in front of the goal. This is the so-called 'Shevcento', the hero of the big clashes, the scorers' king against the worst rivals. His habit of scoring against the big teams has come back at the Olimpico. |
