Sejm
The word sejm derives from the verb "sjąć się" meaning "to get together", with similar words in some other Slavic languages, of proto-Slavic origin *sъjęti < *sъjemti
Sejm, then, as a noun meant "a gathering, a meeting, a council.”

From Old Polish sejm, from Proto-Slavic *sъjьmъ, from *sъ- (“from, with”), *jęti (“to take”).

Etymology 1
Borrowed from a South Slavic language, most likely Macedonian збор (zbor, “word”), where the transformation from "meeting, gathering" to "word" occurred in the same way as the Aromanian synonym cuvendã (“word”) from Latin conventum or Albanian kuvend; compare Proto-Slavic *sъborъ (“meeting, gathering”) (Serbo-Croatian zbȍr/збо̏р). Akin to zburãscu (“speak”).
