8 июля 1994 года Килдалл получил травму головы в байкерском баре Franklin Street Bar & Grill в Монтерее, Калифорния. Точные обстоятельства травмы неясны. Различные источники утверждают, что он упал со стула, спустился по ступенькам или подвергся нападению, поскольку вошел в помещение в кожаной одежде Harley-Davidson. On July 8, 1994, Kildall sustained a head injury at the Franklin Street Bar & Grill, a biker bar in Monterey, California. The exact circumstances of the injury are unclear. Various sources have claimed he fell from a chair, fell down steps, or was assaulted, because he had entered the premises wearing Harley-Davidson leathers. Harold Evans, in They Made America, states that Kildall "stumbled and hit his head" inside the establishment, and "was found on the floor."
Following the injury, Kildall was discharged from the hospital twice. He was pronounced dead at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, on July 11, 1994.
Kildall's cause of death remains disputed. An autopsy, conducted on July 12, did not conclusively determine the cause of death. Evans states that Kildall's head injury triggered a cerebral hemorrhage, causing a blood clot to form inside the skull. A CP/M Usenet FAQ states that Kildall was concussed due to his injury, and died of a heart attack; the connection between the two is unclear.

Больнее всего в той "замене" задело Гаррри по-видимому то, что Билл ведь по сути то и вообще не окончил этот их университет, а только проучился там некоторое время.
И вот это событие вероятно как раз и сыграло в судьбе Гарри фатальную роль.
Он сгоряча принял тогда решение сесть за написание воспоминаний о примечательно памятных ему деталях событий того периода времени, когда собственно и шел поэтапно процесс ограбления созданной им компании DR супергигантом отрасли IBMicrosoft.
Как теперь многим видимо понятно, Гарри не должен был этого делать. Не мог наверное впрочем и сам Гарри Килдалл не понимать тяжесть ситуации в которую ставит таким образом IBMicrosoft.
Точное описание главным участником событий критически важных деталей исторических фактов и связанных с ними бизнес-ситуаций, относящиеся к периоду истории DR рубежа 80-х, просто и всего лишь сожгли бы, уничтожили самим фактом своего появления многослойный букет искусно выстроенных мифов на которых покоится ныне уверенность мира в том что ... компания Микрософт создала первую операционную систему эры персональных компьютеров и ровно таким образом Билл Гейтс стал самым богатым человеком планеты.
Иными словами, акт публикации мемуаров Гарри оказался бы несовместим с жизнью исторически базового мифо-фундамента картеля IBMicrosoft.
Соответственно и процесс написания такого текста создателем CP/M оказался ровно таким образом - совершенно симметрично - абсолютно несовместимым с его самого дальнейшей жизнью фактором.
На одном из завершающих этапов работы над рукописью Гарии Килдал зашел в расположенный неподалеку от дома ресторан, где много лет постоянно бывал, и вернулся домой с "ушибом головы" случившимся там с ним по сю пору так формально говоря и не известным образом и от которого он вскоре скончался.

The university from which Harry graduated announced that it intends to provide the creator of CP/M with an introduction speech to the anniversary parade of its eminent alumni. However, at the last moment the organizers "for some reason" changed their minds and gave a platform for that opening speech not to Gary Kildall, but to ... Bill Gates.
The most painful thing about that "replacement" hurt Gary, apparently, that Bill, in fact, did not even graduate from this university of theirs, but only studied there for a while.
And this event probably just played a fatal role in Gary's fate.
He hastily made the decision to sit down to write memoirs about the remarkably memorable details of the events of that period of time when, in fact, the process of robbery by the supergiant of the industry IBMicrosoft of the Digital Research company he created was going on.
As many now seem to understand, Gary should not have done this. Probably, however, Gary Kildall himself could not but understand the severity of the situation in which IBMicrosoft thus puts.
An accurate description by a major participant of events of critical details of historical facts and related business situations, relating to the period of DR history at the turn of the 80s, would easily destroy, by the very fact of its appearance, a multi-layered bouquet of skillfully built myths on which the world's confidence in what rests today. .. Microsoft created the first operating system of the era of personal computers and this is exactly how Bill Gates became the richest man on the planet.
In other words, the act of publishing Harry's memoirs would be incompatible with the life of the historically basic mythological foundation of the IBMicrosoft cartel.
Accordingly, the process of writing such a text by the creator of CP/M turned out to be exactly in this way - completely symmetrically - an absolutely incompatible factor with his later life.
At one of the final stages of work on the manuscript, Gary Kildall went to a restaurant not far from his house, where he constantly visited for many years, and returned home with a "head bruise" that had happened to him there so far so formally and in an unknown manner and from which he died soon after.
