On "social awkwardness" of introverted geeks
Ordinarily someone is called "socially awkward" if they cannot effectively guess what to say in a given social situation so that other people like what is being said. Introverted geeks are "socially awkward", according to the widely held stereotype.

But this works both ways. The main problem for the "socially awkward" geeks is that most of what other people say tends to sound stupid or boring. The geek who does not want to offend will therefore most likely say nothing in response. It is the so-called "socially apt" people who cannot effectively guess what to say in the presence of introverted geeks. This is clear from the fact that geeks usually have no trouble talking to other geeks.
