Symmetric response
There was a conference for programmers that had a controversy because one of the speakers had explicitly dissident political views.

https://www.inc.com/tess-townsend/why-it-matters-that-an-obscure-programming-conference-is-hosting-mencius-moldbug.html

The organizer of this conference, by name John de Goes, decided to keep the speaker despite pressure to cancel. He explained his reasons here, http://degoes.net/articles/lambdaconf-inclusion

As a result, he was called by various people a "terrible person", a "John de Goebbels", and a "white supremacist". However, this is factually incorrect since John de Goes obviously holds quite different views on the question of race and other political questions. His only problem is that he dared to disagree with the prevailing political opinion.

Now, what would be a symmetric response to calling John de Goes a nazi white supremacist against all evidence?

I think the symmetric response would be to call his detractors "left-wing extremists" and "communist terrorists".

Calling them "terrorists" would be factually incorrect since they have not killed or physically held anyone hostage for political reasons. Their only problem is that they dared to disagree with the prevailing opinion about organizing conferences for programmers.

James Damore was fired last year for what Google called "hate speech". A symmetric response would be to say that Google's denunciation of Damore was "extremist propaganda".

As another example, there are currently a few academic professors who have claimed that mathematics itself - in its patterns of logical thought - is oppressively racist and sexist, and must be replaced. The latest one is here, http://campusunmasked.com/2018/08/16/prof-wants-math-to-oppose-truths-and-knowledge/

The symmetric response is to call these professors "left-wing terrorists". This is factually incorrect; their only problem is that they dared to disagree with the prevailing dogma of mathematical thinking.

There is one difference though: these professors are on the extreme left-wing of the political spectrum; almost all of them are in favor of socialism and against capitalism. And these kind of people do often threaten or even organize physical attacks on their political opponents. http://campusunmasked.com/

So calling them "left-wing extremists" and "communist terrorists" is actually not far from the truth. In order to make the response more symmetric, one would have to increase the degree of disparagement beyond "extremist" or "terrorist". For instance, one could call them "genocidal stalinist zombies".
