The mainstream trans movement gets support from NGOs, corporations, and government programs because it aligns with broader progressive goals. Meanwhile, transsexual-focused activism—centered on medical transition and access to HRT and surgeries—gets drowned out by identity politics that don’t necessarily prioritize real medical needs.
If a separate TS movement were to emerge, it would need to build its own independent infrastructure—whether through private funding, medical advocacy, or grassroots organizing. It’s tough, but not impossible.
