There are two main sorts of devices that looks like what you describe:
e-ink devices and tablets. the main differences between them are:
1) e-ink is relatively slow, so you can read and browse, but you cannot watch movies on it
2) but e-ink works without recharging much longer: for instance, I can read my e-book for two weeks totally unplugged.
3) e-ink is e-ink, so it doesn't blink, it is just like simple paper, and tablets tires your eyes much faster
4) on the other hand, you need to use external light to read e-ink in the dark

but to make photos and videos you definitely need tablet; indeed, it has USB-connection, and in file browser usually looks like simple USB-flash (but it can depends on model)
