2. recall memory vs recognition memory -> abstract thinking as the ability to recall what you don't know.
3. falsifiability, as a practical method to stop a discussion when a clear-cut proof is not available. has to be stated upfront just to force one to think about the possibility that s/he can be wrong. e.g. http://smirnoff-v.livejournal.com/59622.html; my post about tema lebedev. "science chivalry rules" - similar purpose.
