Distributive Justice |

An interesting lecture at Harvard about Rawls' principles of fairness. http://academicearth.org/lectures/whats-fair-and-deserved
Rawls answers the libertarian argument against distributive justice by claiming that owning the results of one's effort is not a basic right, while freedom of speech, consciousness, and some others are. (Milton Friedman would vehemently object to this idea.)
Once you say that the society owns your labor, you get on the slippery slope of deciding how much is one's fair share of his/her own achievement. |
