a bunch of translations of M. Baru's haiku [Sep. 17th, 2004|09:28 am]
will have to sort them out later

after all farewells
she comes back
to forgive

full moon.
dying to quit smoking -
can't handle it anymore

autumn dreams...
you fly away south
with the clouds

twilight
somebody knocks
on my heart

after doctor's visit
my old hospital roommate
looks like a worn-out shirt

autumn rain
with folded wings
I wade home through puddles

breathing freedom and spring
the gentle breeze
in my pockets

no alms -
an old subway beggar
still mumbles "bless you"

the sour tinge
of September apples
and of your lips

life: an observation [Sep. 17th, 2004|09:29 am]
my days that for whatever reason start without meditation and tai-chi are usually lost to scatterbrain activities, e.g. LJ.
in general, LJ stimulates entropy of attention. it diffuses thought and time through tens or even hundreds of disjointed mind lenses, leaving one with intricate light patterns, but no image.

By the way, it's absolutely clear that Kerry has lost it. His inability to capitalize on bad economy, job losses, record budget deficit, ill-conceived and no-end-game war in Iraq, hysterical incompetence of "the war on terror", the dumbness of the figurehead president, and etc. shows that Democrats don't have a good plan to get out of that mess either. Criticizing Bush for being who he is is not going to help it, because this is a very old news. Everybody already used to it. The Republican team lead by Carl Rove showed that you can win with a losing hand. By a landslide.

reality shaping [Sep. 17th, 2004|04:30 pm]
convincing people to agree on a common understanding of reality beyond their own personal experience is one of the more difficult tasks that you can take on.
most often it is done by extensive brainwashing, which includes, e.g. massive advertising, televised cruelty, censorship, and etc. once it's in place public truth becomes dependent on this common reality. external events are then perceived through (shaped by) the model for a very long time without being detected as being contrary to the accepted picture of the world.

the "poly-" aspect of reality shaping process is the key. why? probably because we tend to seek confirmation in the immediate environment.

видеотелефон нужен для того, чтобы в конце разговора с мамой убедиться в том, что она улыбается :)
