В примечании к переводу Давид Лану пишет, что другой переводчик, Макото Уеда, видит здесь не пьющую из великой реки мышку, а крысу, которая сидит рядом и что-то там грызет. Кого видел Исса у Сумида-реки неизвестно, поэтому Лану строит свой аргумент на контрасте: маленькая мышка - ОГРОМНАЯ РЕКА.
А я думаю, что с крысой будет правильнее. Во-первых, совершенно непонятно зачем мышке нужно пить из огромной реки, когда для этого есть ручейки и лужи. Во-вторых, картинка с крысой получается гораздо естественнее. Представим себе: весна, разлив, большая река несет кучу всякой всячины; оголодавшая за зиму крыса пирует на берегу. Красота. Гармония.

In the laboratory games, the poorest players surrendered some of their own money tokens simply to penalise their richer counterparts, without any hope of personal gain.
In view of this study sharing wealth seems to be a reasonable social strategy. A yet nother hint that natural selection works on the social level too. |

any way you look at it semi-automatic guns have to be outlawed. i hear the arguments that criminals always find weapons, but reducing the supply would be a step in the right direction. |
