I think by now I can distinguish more than ten "English" accents:
Russian, English, Irish, New England-ish, New York-ish, Australian, Texan, Dutch, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian/Pakistani, South African.
It's also funny how some women manage to coquet even on the phone. A little giggle here, a tiny change of intonation there, and you can almost feel the vibes coming from the other side of the world. |

i wish you see gestures of my boss talking over the phone with Chinese collegues :) i try to keep giggling inside, in vain sometimes :)
You should see how Italians jesticulate when they talk on their mobiles. Once in Rome I saw a woman walking on the street, apparently going home from the market, both of her hands were occupied with bags of produce, she squeezed the phone between her shoulder and her ear, and her whole body was jesticulating! She was wiggling and dancing to the sound of her own voice! :) | |
