Islam today is the only mass ideology available to losers. Christianity had been secularized, Marxism/Maoism discredited, and Buddism too personal and distant to make an impact within the next fifty years.
Given the situation when, due to corruption, lack of education, and overall social backwardness Arab countries produce large numbers of losers, militant Islam is going to position itself as the only actionable strategy to deal with the unfairness of the rich.
Sounds like a good problem to solve... |
