One more time asked LJ support to remove sup.ru tracking code from my pages. Hope this time they get it.

Here's how to check for your journal being infected by sup:

Go to your page, view source in your browser, search for word "counter" ( most likely you'll find a block of code in the bottom of the page.)

Basically, SUP has the ability to track your movements around LJ. And it's not just generic aggegate tracking - they can link it to you individually, because they can read an lj cookie stored in the browser.
Google probably does the same if you use their mail/blog account. The difference here lies in law and legal practices, i.e. Google in the US has a greater ability to resist info requests, e.g. governement subpoenas, then SUP in Russia.

Did not find "counter" in the source of my page. So I guess I'm okay?

I can see the counters in the bottom of the page when I am not logged in.

yeah, you're right. When logged out, the source reveals this site:

http://www.tns-counter.ru

Perhaps just blocking access to it with the firewall will do the job?

But if it's not there when you're logged in, then it's no big deal, it seems to me? Am I right?

Also I'm blocking cookies in IE7 from list.ru counter.

When you log in and accept lj cookies they can track you using cookies. If you don't accept cookies they can track you by using tiny counter images. Based on what I heard about livejournal.ru portal, lj and sup share cookies, which means there's a privacy advantage to users in browsing lj journals without accepting cookies neither from lj nor sup-sponsored servers.
I think it would be a good idea to create a sup-free space, where you are not being tracked by them in any shape or form.
