While several years of negotiation are expected before the planned legislation comes into force, there are major changes afoot for citizens and industry. Here’s a look at some of the biggest -- from the price of a plane ticket to the cost of heating your home. Emissions Trading System In plain English: Cutting emissions faster What it will entail: The EU wants to use its world-leading carbon market to cut enough emissions to reach its new 2030 target. To do so, it plans to quicken the pace at which emission caps shrink each year, forcing manufacturers, power producers and airlines to curtail their carbon footprint more swiftly. Why it matters: This will be the biggest overhaul of the Emissions Trading System to date, affecting everything from the price of flights to the cost of your electricity bill -- though there’ll be a social fund to help those hardest-hit. Carbon prices briefly jumped on Wednesday following the release of the proposals. Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism In plain English: Making sure Europe doesn’t get undercut What it will entail: In a world-first, the EU plans to introduce an import levy for steel, cement and aluminum produced in other countries with lower environmental standards. Importers will have to buy special certificates at a price linked to the Emissions Trading System -- effectively a penalty for bringing in such goods, which will also include fertilizers and power. Why it matters: The EU knows that an ambitious climate plan comes with its downsides; namely, its companies could be vulnerable to competitors outside the bloc that aren’t subject to the same stringent environmental rules. This is an effort to address that risk, and has global ramifications, potentially spurring other countries to step up their own climate efforts. Yet the system will be complex -- to ensure it meets global trade rules -- and even the most meticulous design won’t eliminate the risk of diplomatic rifts with EU trading partners, from the U.S. to Russia or China. Aviation and Shipping In plain English: Ending exemptions for some of the highest-polluting sectors What it will entail: The shipping industry will be included in the Emissions Trading System for the first time, while airlines -- already included -- will eventually have to pay for all the pollution their planes produce. The Commission also wants to see more sustainable aviation fuel blended into regular jet fuel, and is proposing a fuel-tax system to impose minimum levies on both shipping and aircraft sectors. Why it matters: Despite the transport industry’s high emissions, shipping and aviation have been largely exempt from the strictest environmental regulations until now. Low-cost airlines may be particularly hard-hit by the new rules, and passengers could face higher ticket costs as a result. But the regulations could give a boost to the fledgling sustainable-fuel industry, and -- as travelers choose greener options -- to the region’s rail sector. Car Emission Standards In plain English: Getting rid of the combustion engine What it entails: The EU is proposing that emissions from new cars fall by 55% from 2030 and drop to zero from 2035. That marks a significant tightening of current targets, which require only a 37.5% reduction from 2030, though it falls short of the expected 65% cut. Why it matters: Passenger cars account for about 12% of total EU CO2 emissions, so curbing that output will be key to achieving the bloc’s goals. The policy will bolster demand for electric models, and carmakers are getting prepared. Volkswagen AG, the region’s largest manufacturer, for example, expects more than 70% of its namesake brand sales to be electric from 2030. The regulation could also boost infrastructure, since it will require member states to install charging points at regular intervals along major highways. Renewable Energy Targets In plain English: Boosting the share of energy from renewable sources What it entails: The EU’s executive is proposing to raise its renewables target to 40% of the energy mix by the end of the decade, from the existing 32% goal. It’s also aiming to expand the share of clean fuels in transport. Efficiency requirements will have to be considered in public tenders and governments will have to focus on increasing energy savings among vulnerable consumers, helping to alleviate energy poverty. Why it matters: The EU only achieved its 2020 energy efficiency target due to “exceptional circumstances,” a clear reference to the economic impact of the pandemic. Current national climate and energy plans for 2030 are too weak -- providing for a 29.4% reduction in energy consumption across the continent, below the existing EU objective for 32.5% efficiency. Land Use and Forestry In plain English: How the EU plans to absorb more carbon from the atmosphere What it entails: The EU wants to increase the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by “sinks” such as forests and grasslands -- to 310 million tons a year by 2030 from around 270 million tons currently. Low-temperature records were broken, with snowfall returning to parts of south Brazil after decades. The source of the cold air was Antarctica, which is quite colder than normal this season. As you will also see, the Southern Hemisphere is also colder than normal, bringing down the 2021 global temperatures to the lowest in the past 6 years. Thanks to this powerful Antarctic air mass, countries such as Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Brazil suffered an extreme and unprecedented cold weather outbreak, with historic snowfall across some regions... Near freezing temperatures were recorded also in the lowlands near the 20° south latitude. That is comparable to the latitude of southern Florida (USA), or Mexico, or the Sahara desert. Frost conditions and snowfall across southern Brazil were especially damaging to crops, causing major damage to food production. The cold air outbreak reached its peak on Wednesday, covering much of South America. Temperatures in most central regions were 8-16°C colder than normal. This was one of the strongest and most widespread cold air outbreaks in recent times. Видите, видите этот постоянный рост температуры на графике? Разумеется, никакого пресловутого долгосрочного роста на графике и не видно за шумом, вносимым этой самой Естественной Изменчивостью. Возможно, его можно было бы выявить математически, но повторю банальную и тем не менее недоступную для понимания мразей гретинистов мысль - мизерные эффекты глобального потепления просто тонут в огромных естественных колебаниях температур, происходящих на разных временных и пространственных масштабах, от изменений погоды за окном, до смены сезонов и колебаний средней температуры этой Планеты от года к году. |

Frosts hit coffee fields in Paraná, a smaller producer, but also some coffee crops in São Paulo state, Brazil's second largest arabica producer after Minas Gerais. There were also reports of frosts over sugarcane fields in São Paulo, a state that accounts for over 60% of sugar output in the country. "For sugarcane, the impact is more severe (than for coffee in Sao Paulo)," said Celso Oliveira, a meteorologist at Somar, citing the main sugar region of Ribeirão Preto as one of those affected. Regarding corn, losses from the frost are difficult to estimate at this point, as cold weather will persist in Paraná, the second Brazilian producer of the cereal, weather specialists said. But more losses for corn are likely. |

И как это обычно у них бывает, хитрые мерзавцы выдают желаемое за действительное. Ведь в чем суть дела? Основной эффект от парниковых газов - нагрев ВСЕЙ атмосферы Земли (точнее говоря, тропосферы) за счет поглощения длинноволнового ИК излучения, идущего от Земли обратно в космос. То есть парниковые газы создают своего рода экран для такого излучения. Именно поэтому совершенно правильно этот эффект первоначально был назван Глобальным Потеплением. Но тут возникла проблема - при текущем превышении уровня СО2 над доиндустриальным этот эффект совершенно мизерен и измеряется долями градуса, то есть нашими органами чувств его засечь совершенно невозможно, а можно выявить только методами статистики, усредняя температурные измерения по большим площадям и временным интервалам. Мразей это обстоятельство конечно совершенно никак не устраивало, поскольку для нагнетания климатической истерии нужно нечто более весомое и материальное, нежели чем абстрактные математические расчеты. И поэтому сначала родилась идея объявить Глобальное Потепление ответственным за экстремальную жару, а впоследствии и вообще за все происходящие катаклизмы - жару, холод, засухи, наводнения. То, что вышеуказанные явления являются прежде всего явлениями МЕТЕОРОЛОГИЧЕСКИМИ, вызваны движениями воздушных масс атмосферы, например - переносом теплого воздуха с юга, созданием благоприятных условий для его прогрева Солнцем и т. д., и никак не связаны с тем что вся атмосфера Земли чуть-чуть подогрелась на доли градуса по сравнению с доиндустриальным периодом - таких пояснений мерзавцы конечно не делают и делать никогда не будут. Их послушать, так аномалии градусов в двадцать целиком и полностью лежат на совести CO2. |

Начнем с того, что наличие антител в крови вообще практически НИКАК не влияет на распространение ковида. Кто не верит - может проверить данные по заболеваемости в Метрополии. Почему так происходит - популярно объясняет cucuruzer@lj. Вкратце - на поверхности легких, где размножается вирус, НИКАКИХ АНТИТЕЛ НЕТ. Поэтому их наличие в крови никак вас от вируса не защищает и не предотвращает заражение. Что, кстати, потихоньку начинает доходить до людей после многократных случаев заражения переболевших и вакцинированных. Да, если болезнь зашла далеко и поражение с поверхности слизистой перекинулось глубже - в этом случае антитела начинают уже работать. То есть наличие антител скорее всего предотвратит летальный исход заболевания. И по статистике Метрополии это и видно - смертность у них снизилась сильно. Но из этого следует элементарный вывод - прививки нужно ставить прежде всего людям в группе риска, у которых есть заметная вероятность тяжелого течения болезни! А что будет происходить при поголовной вакцинации? Заболеваемость практически не изменится, поскольку на начальную стадию болезни антитела не влияют. Смертность, конечно, упадет - антитела не дают уйти болезни "глубоко". Но какой ценой? Тов. cucuruzer намекает на грядущий всплеск аутоимунных заболеваний. Да, у вакцин есть побочки, и есть ли смысл колоть вакцину здоровому человеку, который и без нее переболеет не тяжелее ОРВИ? Если эта вакцина не защищает его от заражения? |

Думаю, выбор будет сделан все же в пользу парниковых газов, так как при уходе таких объёмов кремния с рынка развитие солнечной энергетики оказывается под большим вопросом. А на "непрогрессивный" способ получения оного кремния просто закроют глаза, как закрывают глаза на использование детского труда при добыче кобальта для электромобилей в Африке, и тому подобные вещи. Короче говоря, борьба с вонючими газами - любой ценой, таков нынче основной приоритет зеленых хуйвебинов. Кстати, китайцы, понятное дело, получают solar-grade silicon по стандартному Сименс-процессу, побочным продуктом которого является тетрахлорид кремния в больших объемах. Та еще гадость, скажу я вам. Richmond was the coldest place in greater Sydney, reaching a low of 0.2C overnight. Further inland, the weather station at Griffith airport recorded its coldest night for early May in 47 years, with a low of -1.8C, while Cobar recorded 1.5C, its coldest for early May since 1987. |
