Where do these MBA idiots come from?
Heard today in class at another team's presentation: We're going to recommend Linux because it's cheaper. We're going to have WebLogic for application server and SQL Server for DBMS

Accompanied by a nice slide with three boxes: one saying "Linux-Apache", another "Linux-WebLogic" and the third - "Linux-SQL Server".

The last time I heard something equally stupid was when a team had a tool research project. They started with saying "The ABC Co.'s IT department is just 3 people; we need to give them a way to do ... without having them do a lot of extra work". After that they launched a huge half-hour presentation measuring tools on various criteria (basically, just found a magazine article and stole the feature matrix from it). One of the highest-ranking criteria was availability of source code.

I mean, I don't expect MBA types to understand technical things, but how about basic logic???

If all they did is tool comparison, half-hour IS huge. Though I do see your point.
