Not voting today Not going to vote today. I don't have "my" candidate in this race. The chances of Brown winning by precisely one vote are so close to zero it doesn't make sense to get my ass out there, while it's snowing. If he wins, it will not be the end of the world. First, that seat is up for reelection in 2012 anyway, so the winner gets only less than 3 years in the office. Second, he never ever showed like he's capable of doing something. Quoth The biggest knock against him is that he has spent 15 years as a Republican in the Massachusetts legislature, both in the house and senate. Aside from collecting a fat salary and generous pension, what would motivate a person to do that? The legislature meets all year every year. As it has been controlled by Democrats for decades, the meetings serve no purpose. The Party's senior officials could decide what they want to do with the state, write it up in one big document, and have the Democrat-controlled legislature approve it in one hour. A Republican has the right to collect a paycheck, the right to attend votes, the right to sit in on some meetings, but could not possibly influence the outcome in any way (and indeed his Web site does not claim that he ever got any specific law passed). If Brown wanted to accomplish anything as a politician, he would have had to move to New Hampshire or switch to the ruling party. But he did not do either of those things, which means that he has essentially done nothing for a good chunk of his professional life. So I don't expect much harm from Sen.Brown Third, if Brown wins, there will be ways to pass healthcare law without him. First, the House can simply agree to pass the Senate's bill, so that there will be no new Senate vote needed at all. Second, Federal law says that the final tally cannot be issued for at least 10 days after the election to allow overseas absentee ballots to arrive. The idea is that the least we can do for our fighting men and women overseas is to make sure their votes are counted. To issue a cetificate of election before their votes were counted would be an insult to them--not to mention basis for a court challenge. After the 10 days are up, up to five more days may be needed to resolve provisional ballots, which means there is no legal way for a certificate of election to be issued before Jan. 29. If even one of the 351 local election officials needs the full 5 days to resolve the provisional ballots, we are looking at Feb. 3. And if the election is close, the loser may demand a recount, which, as we saw in Minnesota last year, cannot be completed with a single click on some electoral mouse. Montessori School Of Dentistry Lets Students Discover Their Own Root Canal Procedures  NEW YORK—Inside the Montessori School of Dentistry, you won't find any old-fashioned cotton swabs, or so-called periodontal charts, or even any amalgam fillings. That's because at this alternative-learning institution, students are being encouraged to break away from medical tradition and discover their very own root canal procedures. "At Montessori, we believe dentistry is more than just the medical practice of treating tooth and gum disorders," school director Dr. Howard Bundt told reporters Tuesday. "It's about fostering creativity. It's about promoting self-expression and individuality. It's about looking at a decayed and rotten nerve pulp and drawing your own unique conclusions." "In fact, here at Montessori, dentistry is whatever our students want it to be," Bundt continued. Founded in 1981, and tailored after the teaching methods first developed by Italian-born educator Maria Montessori, the three-year academy offers a fresh and innovative approach to learning seldom found at more conventional schools of dentistry. Teachers—or "roving dental facilitators," as they prefer to be called—can be difficult to spot: They often choose to stay out of the way of their inquisitive pupils, and only make gentle suggestions as to how an infected root chamber should be drained. "When performing a root canal, there's no such thing as right or wrong," said Montessori educator Vanessa Perrin, who added that she doesn't so much teach her students how to treat an inflamed nerve, as lead them to an open mouth and then stand back. "Sure, we could say to our students, 'The enamel here has completely eroded and needs to be addressed immediately.' But what's more satisfying, what's more dynamic, is to just let them slowly develop an 'impression' of why a patient might be screaming." "We try to encourage our students to work with their patients in order to determine a successful course of action," Perrin added. "That's one of the many reasons why we don't believe in using any anesthesia during surgical procedures." According to administrators, the Montessori School of Dentistry strives to present an alternative to the dogmatic structure of other schools. In addition to being able to set their own curriculum, students at the private institution can take a break during long and involved operations if they grow bored or feel uninspired. The confining and antiseptic atmosphere of tradition is absent even from the classrooms themselves, relaxing environments that are sometimes filled with comfortable, overstuffed sofas rather than dentist chairs. "If a student is installing a crown, and feels midway through as though he or she would benefit more from, say, seeing where a tooth implant might lead, they can do that here," said Montessori professor Donald Scheneke, who told reporters that he sees the dentist office as a place for exploration and expression, not rules. "In here, there's no such thing as 'absentmindedly drilling through to the lower gum' or 'mistakenly pulling out the wrong maxillary lateral incisor.' I can't tell you the number of times I've seen people give up on the entire dentistry profession just because they were terrible at filling cavities." Recent graduates from the small, independent school agree. "Thanks to my professors at Montessori, I feel like I can handle any professional challenge that comes my way," Dr. David Greenblatt, DDS, said as a syringe filled with Novocaine dripped slowly into the back of a patient's throat and down into his lungs. Он никогда вам не мочился в тапки, не раздирал обои никому, он вашу колбасу не ел ни разу, на кухне не запрыгивал на стол, не сбрасывал со шкафа на пол вазу и коготками не царапал пол, не воровал аквариумных рыбок и под окном старался не шуметь. Хотя бы лишь за это вы могли бы немного уважения иметь! Да, он линяет. Нос и губы в краске. Передние клыки чуть-чуть длинней. Да, бегает за лазерной указкой. А кто из вас не бегает за ней? Да, любит кильку и сидеть на крыше. И что теперь, проклятьями трясти? Его интересуют только мыши, их стоимость и где приобрести. Ну да, играет в бантик сам с собою. Но это вас касаться не должно! Прочь руки и не трогайте святое! Вы выглядите жалко и смешно! Он жил, мяукал, веселил детишек. Понятно вам? Детишек веселил! А в интернете вдруг Вербицкий Миша подкрался и помоями облил и рад, как это свойственно подонку. Мерзавец, хоть в ведре таких топи! А вы еще и лаете вдогонку, как будто тоже сорвались с цепи! Набросились, как туча саранчова: ложь, клевета, наветы и обман. Мол, кошки обожают Куклачева, как негры обожают «Ку-клукс-клан». Что, мол, его боится всякий котик, печальна участь кошек и котов, мол, Куклачев дает им всем наркотик и держит взаперти без паспортов, мол, заставляет целый день трудиться, кричит и тычет пальцами в лицо, велит то кувыркаться, то садиться, то прыгать сквозь горящее кольцо, мол, Куклачев их бьет электротоком, а также спит он с ними вообще… Да, спит! Да, с ними! Да, в прихожей! Тока не в том, что вы подумали, ключе! Вербицкий запятнал и честь примата, и честь и славу блогера вдвойне. Он допустил такую дозу мата, что дыбом встала шерсть по всей спине! И эта грязь разложена не где-то, не на песочке в ямке у ворот, а прямо на пороге интернета — наступит каждый, кто туда зайдет! Вербицкий, стыдно! Ведь читают дети! Ты с детства не умел ходить в лоток! Ты каждый божий день выходишь в сети и отправляешь надобности в блог! У Куклачева блогов нет. Нескоро он выйдет в интернет. Но с давних пор он любит греться возле монитора, открытым глазом глядя на курсор. Сам в интернете не был, ходит мимо. Но обо всем, что делается тут, при помощи свистков и пантомимы помощники ему передадут. «Рублей сто тысяч — такова оценка — вы по суду потребовать должны!» — сказал помощник Александр Гриценко и долго терся ухом об штаны. «На эту сумму, драгоценный мой вы, — сказал помощник, покраснев слегка, — я вам куплю пакет копченой мойвы и целых три пакета молока! На интернет судья найдет управу, такое дело — явно для суда!» И Куклачев ему ответил: «Мяу!», что в том контексте означало «да». Ну что, дождался, Михаил Вербицкий? Привык на всех подряд помои лить? Теперь придется отвечать на иски, а если повезет, то лес валить и жить в дому с решеткой на окошке — ну это как решит Басманный суд. А ты, небось, надеялся, что кошки обидчикам своим лишь в тапки ссут? Небось предполагал, что это шутка? Ты думал, это все тебе хи-хи? Ты сядешь, Миша. И Денис Яцутко, который про котов писал стихи. Вину свою ничем уж не загладишь, зря все кричат: «Погладь кота, погладь!» Клянусь хвостом, ты сядешь, Миша, сядешь! Чтоб понял каждый: в интернет — не гадь! Вы разозлили Куклачева, панки, а ничего страшнее в мире нет. Он выпьет пару капель валерьянки и на уши поставит интернет! Оттопчется на блогах, как на тапках, покажет настоящее лицо, и будет «Гугль» ходить на задних лапках, и будет «Яндекс» прыгать сквозь кольцо, и будет интернет команду слушать и делать что-то только по свистку, и блогеры прижмут стыдливо уши и наконец приучатся к лотку! |

Ліст на ракавай рассылцы гэта нават не прапалітыку... L and I have now officially joined the world of the unemployed, uninsured and possibly soon to be Homeless. We are restricted to Internet access at the Library so can't spend much time on here. Yesterday was our last day of Cobra Eligibility and we could not find anyone else to borrow from so had to let it go. I think the thing that bothers me most about this is it means an end to L's Cancer screenings and lab work for her Liver and potassium problems along with all scans. We qualified for Food Stamps which will help and have applied for Social Security Disability for both of us but expect our cases to be very borderline. The state of *** is reveiwing my claim for Workmans Comp and Unemployment still, but even if they rule in my favor it will be too late for Cobra. I have decided my only option left is to ignore my back injury and take any work possible in an effort to get insurance back. We were able to refill all of L's medications which will give us a month on that, but she will probably have to quit using them when the current supply runs out. I have always been a Conservative Politically, but this experience has given me a completely different outlook on the problems of the poor and those with severe Health conditions and I am now a Full supporter of Health care reform. No one should ignore how fast situations can change in this economic situation. |

Пра Афган ад Кусініча Congressman Kucinich Addresses Escalation in Afghanistan Dear Friends, Tonight the President will announce an escalation of the war in Afghanistan. An additional 30,000 troops will bring the United States' total in Afghanistan to 100,000. Tomorrow I will offer an analysis of the President's plan. The community I represent in Cleveland, Ohio, is suffering from massive unemployment, record home foreclosures, and small business failures. People are losing their jobs, their health care, their homes, their savings, their investments, and their retirement security. The middle class is gravely threatened. What is happening in Cleveland is occurring nationwide. Yet, Wall Street received over $13 trillion in bailouts, with untold millions for high salaries and bonuses, while Main Street loses its power through unemployment, reduced wages and benefits and little or no access to credit or investment capital. There is something fundamentally wrong with our economy which borrowing more money to spend on war cannot and will not cure. Perhaps nation building should begin at home. An escalation of the war in Afghanistan at a time of such economic dislocation and hardship raises questions about America's priorities and whether or not we are losing our way as we attempt to stride aside the globe as some Colossus.
