A drug addict who robbed and killed a 100-year-old Holocaust survivor woman has been jailed for 15 years after being convicted of manslaughter.

Artur Waszkiewicz, 40, knocked widow Zofija Kaczan to the floor, took her handbag and left her to bleed in the middle of the road in Derby

The pensioner suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured neck and cheekbone, before her condition deteriorated, dying days later.

Polish-born widow Ms Kaczan was originally sentenced to death on her birthday by the Nazis in her home country - but her life was instead ended by the drug addict who needed £20 to buy heroin.
