All this art entering public domain each year is from the long obsolete conservative past, and yet free access and distribution of these works popularizes them and their values. That is why I believe copyright should be permanent and ownership over say Bible should be given to the government of Israel, since it is the Jewish history and work, even if precise authorship is unknown. That way Bible will be more expensive to obtain and less people will read it, and all the inhumane things it promotes.
