В эти выходные, так получилось, постоянно встречал кого-то из старых друзей в аэропорту... потом все собирались у меня, вспоминали старое и новое. бразилия, оказывается, очень хорошая страна, где мало денег и одежды на женщинах, зато, или поэтому, много счастья... другой приятель живет в англии, но лучше всего себя чувствует на юге франции... а я люблю париж и италию... в сингапуре - чистота и порядок, но юмор отделен от государства и жить там не хочется...
honestly, в нашей деревне тоже совсем неплохо... если что, можно уйти в парк, а там олени бродят, людей совсем не боятся... зайцы и куропатки какие-то непуганные... так и хочется присесть на поваленном дереве и написать бабушке письмо. "дорогая бабушка, мне здесь нравится. погода очень хорошая. я люблю жить среди зверей и людей, которых эти звери не боятся".
интересно, где-нибудь лет через сто, люди перестанут бояться компьютеров и биотехнологий. или наоборот. компьютеры будут что-нибудь изобретать, экспериментировать, а люди думать, что это все для человеческого счастья, ходить по улицам и красоваться цветом кожи или какими-нибудь светящимися хвостами... города - заповедники... а пока надо пройти через войну цивилизаций, как нам сообщил папа римский... до ватикана, видно, тоже эта новость дошла... вот так, пожили в нормальном мире каких-то десять лет, придумали, как интернетом пользоваться, а теперь опять - воевать... грустно и смешно. "дорогая бабушка, если ты меня слышишь, спроси там, пожалуйста, почему люди так дешево ценят чужое счастье..." хотя, я, пожалуй и так знаю...and, i guess, completely off topic: a хорошо, когда есть друзья и идеи... |

а вот и пример конфликта культур в виртуальном пространстве. с одной стороны (american) непонимание языка и связанный с этим страх; с другой стороны (russian), непонимание чужой культуры, нежелание её понять и принять "нет" в качестве ответа.
интересно также отличие в отношении к правилам/законам. одни предпочитают работать медленно в рамках существующей системы, чтобы её изменить, но только после предусмотренного процесса; другие, предпочитают героические поступки типа виртуального самоубийства, при этом, наверняка, осуждая в реальной жизни миссии террористов-самоубийц. "синдром Рефта"(?)
с точки зрения эволюции, очень важно, чтобы разрушительные действия имели негативные последствия для носителя подобных действий. в ранних демократических обществах существовал имущественный ценз для предотвращения акций со стороны людей, которые ничего не вкладывали в развитие...
похоже, что здесь тоже скоро появятся заборы и границы :( обидно

i find it rather remarkable to see how a notion brought from one environment creates new uses and new problems in another environment. consider, for example, the whole "friend" hubbub. since the primary function of the LJ system is information management in addition to relationship management, the ability to use somebody else as an information filter and/or source eventually run into problems with real-life perception of friendship. Before, there was a notion of, let's say, a good book being "a good" friend. though exactly right from a memetic point of view, it was considered to be just a metaphor in real life. now, as we move more and more into an information-dominated world, we are going to run into all kinds of unexpected contradictions between our social and virtual environments. interestingly enough, the skills required to succeed in both of them may or, some say, will diverge. our evolution as social beings is not complete yet, differences between societies are huge, so i can barely imagine what is going to happen with this new challenge. sometimes i feel, that the technology community, which has the most experience in this new environment lacks or not interested in social skills necessary to appreciate the changes they introduce into the world. on the other hand, traditional culture/content developers do not really understand the depth of the changes that occur around them. our whole opportunity management system is not really ready for the sheer scale of the memetic revolution. add on top of that life-sciences (genetics, micro-biology, ...) and computational technology advances and you've got yourself a pretty interesting decade or two ahead. exciting! |

it looks like LJ "memories" could actually be useful for other purposes, such as book lists, references and etc... the original relationship to events is again transported from the pre-virtual past and confuses the real capabilities of the system.
pretty much we have the following basic functions:
1. journal entry - a time stamped information piece with comments that disappear from your and your friends' view after a while ( 3-4 days for the owner, 0.5 for a friend)
2. memory entry - a longer term information piece, that could stay "alive" much longer.
3. to do list - a rather basic implementation with no real notification or synchronization facilities. needs major improvements or will die.
4. calendar - rudimentary calender-based information management system. barely useable. if you keep your subject consistent, you could make an aggregation tool. no sorting capabilities ( yet?).
5. friends list - another content management facility. should've been separated into "friends" and "sources" to avoid confusion. actually, can be arranged using the filtering tool. but still, would be nice to have real separation, becuase the functionality can be derived using two different sets of attributes.
"would be nice" features:
a) expiration dates on journal entries.
b) sources vs. friends (see p. 5)
c) asign friends or a group of friends to a posting.
d) source annotation and evaluation attributes
e) sorting on attributes and subjects
f) updates from calendar as well as organizer sync or at least an ascii dump.
g) cross-LJ search on high-relevance sources, not interests/communities.
to do: 1. need to look more into interests/communities.
2. check FAQs for more information on advanced features. |
