not every one of them.
cheap shimano u can not help switching on every road bump.

My altus still switching smooth even when dirty. The clue was tuning. It took time, but it was worth it. So far the only problem I see is the materials (it doesn't feel very solid, may bend) and the simplistic bearings.

by "cheap" i meant TX-30 (this 6 speed one for city bikes)
i have Deore on my MTB, it is crap but working, and i am not going to change it until its death due to natural causes :) however i have already replaced pulleys coz they tend to wear off pretty rapidly

Well, I guess those that are even cheaper can let you down in the middle of nowhere. Which is a bad thing if you're too far away.
