I'm doing computer programming for some time already, and not a single time I had a need to solve a quadratic equation or even need the complex numbers. Yet there were are lot of need for matrix math, even for simple 2d graphics. Now, with the advent of neural nets, linear algebra is just a single most important subject.

The only practical thing involving the analysis related stuff is the fourier transform, which today is also used mostly to analyse neural nets. Just because it decomposes real world curves.

IIRC, beside this quadratic nonsense, schools also teach manual division and multiplication algorithms. In the age of calculators. That is just plainly harmful, when calculator is guaranteed to give right result.
