in the minority, as Senate Minority Leader.

In 1944, history records that Byrd wrote in a letter to a
fellow segregationist Democratic Senator that:

I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro
by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times,
and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise
again than to see this beloved land of ours become
degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest
specimen from the wilds.

And who gave the eulogy at Byrd's funeral? That would be
his friend, Delaware Senator Joe Biden.

Ну да, а чему тут удивляться, они и сейчас выступают
за сегрегацию, просто раньше это был ККК, сейчас BLM,
но разницы по сути никакой, партия как была целиком
расистской, так и осталась. Роль партийного пара-милитари
сейчас играет не ККК, а "антифа", но тактика запугивания
оппонентов партии та же самая.
