Выступление тоже сорвали, то есть орали все время, пока Мюррей пытался разговаривать. Когда она пыталась вывезти Мюррея из кампуса после несостоявшейся лекции, на них снова напали, отпиздили профессоршу до сотрясения мозга, и сломали ей шею ко всему прочему. Вообще американские профессора сейчас массово жалуются на студентов, что те дескать требуют цензуры, safe spaces, trigger warnings, а профессора хотят свободы слова. Раньше студенты требовали свободы слова, а университетское начальство с ней боролось и пиздило студентов, а теперь наоборот: студенты пиздят и затыкают тех, кто высказывается скептически в адрес официальной идеологии. ...I stood at the podium. She looked at me reproachfully and a little defiantly, her mouth moving in whatever the current chant was. I'm probably projecting, but I imagined her to be a student who wasn't particularly political but had learned that this guy Murray was truly evil. So she found herself in the unfamiliar position of activist, not really enjoying it, but doing her civic duty. The others.... Wow. Some were just having a snarky good time as college undergrads have been known to do, dancing in the aisle to the rhythm of the chants. But many looked like they had come straight out of casting for a film of brownshirt rallies. In some cases, I can only describe their eyes as crazed and their expressions as snarls. Melodramatic, I know. At the October election in 1974, 49 per cent of skilled workers (C2) and 57 per cent of semi-skilled and unskilled workers (DE) voted Labour; by 2010, those numbers had fallen to 29 per cent and 40 per cent respectively. Among middle class voters (ABC1), support for the Conservatives fell over the same time period from 56 per cent in 1974 to 39 per cent in 2010. In 1974, Labour enjoyed a 23-point lead among skilled working class voters (C2), but by 2010 the Conservatives had overtaken them in this demo to lead by eight points-a pattern repeated in 2017. Corbyn's victory in the Labour leadership election was followed by a surge in party membership- from 193,754 at the end of 2014 to 388,103 by the end of 2015. But the activists he appeals to are predominantly middle class. According to internal Party data leaked to the Guardian, a disproportionate number of them are "high status city dwellers" who own their own homes. For instance, the party pledged to cut rail fares by 33 per cent and pay for it by slashing the money spent on roads. But only 11 per cent of Britain's commuters travel by train compared to 68 per cent who drive-and the former tend to be more affluent than the latter. Corbyn also promised to abolish university tuition fees at a cost of 7.2 billion pounds per annum, a deeply regressive policy which, according to the Institute of Fiscal Studies, would benefit middle- and high-earning graduates with "very little" upside for those on low incomes. As Corbyn's policy platform in Britain's election showed, left-wing parties now have little to offer indigenous, working class people outside the big cities-and their activists often add insult to injury by describing these left-behind voters as "privileged" because they're white or cis-gendered or whatever. So long as parties like Labour pander to their middle-class, identitarian activists and ignore the interests of the genuinely disadvantaged, they'll continue to rack up loss after loss. Get woke, go broke. * * * Собственно, оно и неплохо бы, типа - лейбор как партия людей с университетскими дипломами, требующая повышения выплат для университетов и общественного транспорта, а тори - партия депрессивных регионов, безработных и заброшенных шахтерских городков. В такой конфигурации у лейбора вполне остаются шансы и на победу, и на уверенные выступления в оппозиции. Проблема же в том, что лейбор в своей риторике заботится строго о diversity and inclusion, то есть воюет за права беженцев и исламских общин и изобличает жидов, цисгендеров и белых супрематистов. Людям с университетскими дипломами общественный транспорт по нраву, но не до такой степени, чтобы мириться с антисемитами или твиттерными помешанными феминистками, проводящими время борьбе с менспредингом и травле инакомыслящих. А людям без дипломов и транспорт не надо, и твиттер их в общем не восхищает, да и к жидам они относятся скорее нейтрально. Конечно, на английских кампусах евреев постоянно пиздят, но делать из этого политическое заявление лейбористы пока не стали, наоборот, оправдываются. То есть ничего, кроме позора и поношения, с этого их твиттерного антисемитского турбофеминизма лейбор не получил, и похоже не получит, ни в одной из электоральных категорий. Теперь Корбина, очевидно, прогонят, но партия наверное все равно развалится. Потому что иначе придется (а) окончательно признать, что лейбор - партия миддл-класса, а тори - партия бедных и (б) выстраивать свою риторику в том же ключе, что и итальянские 5-звезд, то есть топить за контр-истеблишмент, интернет-политику, референдумы, и яростно отплевываться от любых ассоциаций с левым движением или марксизмом. И то и другое, очевидно, неприемлемо, в силу исторического багажа партии, так что пациента придется определенно хоронить. Не через 5 лет, так через 9 точно. Привет Current Mood: |
